BOOK REVIEW: Way of the Peaceful Warrior - A Book That Changes Lives - by Dan Millman Publishers (joint venture): H J Kramer & New World Library Reviewed by Marie T. Russell Twenty years ago, Dan Millman wrote a book that became a classic. This book altered many people's lives, a well as the way they viewed themselves and reality. This anniversary edition still has the same impact... it still is relevant to the lives of today, and it still has the power to change lives and our viewpoint of reality. When this book was first published, I was living in the Caribbean and didn't get a chance to read it at the time. Through the twenty years that followed, I heard again and again of this book mentioned by many other "revered" authors, and I knew it was a "classic" in the field of "personal growth and enlightenment", yet I still hadn't read it. When this anniversary copy was sent to us for review, I knew the time had come... I read it, and I can see what all the "hoopla" has been about. It's a great book! Written in the style of a novel, this semi-autobiographical book carries you along -- learning along with Dan Millman -- the way of the peaceful warrior. Its lessons have withstood the test of time. I know I would have loved this book in my twenties, just as I loved reading it now... and I also know that even if you read it twenty years ago, you will still learn from the rereading. It's a book of insights, of clarities, and of vision. It may even have more impact "the second time around", as it may remind you of things you thought you learned "way back then", and maybe have forgotten in the "daily grind" to "earn a living". I highly recommend you pick up the "Way of the Peaceful Warrior", in more ways than one... pick it up to read, but mostly, pick it up to learn to live the way of the peaceful warrior... Happy reading!
