Don’t we want the Australians to be blessed? The British? The Italians? The Greeks? The Israelis? The Palestinians? The Afghanis? Why should Americans (meaning only the ones in the United States of America) be the only ones to be blessed? |

Every day we make choices. Some seem simple, some seem complex. What will I eat for breakfast? What will I say to this person? How will I react to this situation? Some choices we make without even thinking about it, and sometimes we are simply remaking a choice we made a long time ago. |

As we enter a new era, it is time to create a new culture -- a culture of peace rather than war. The real issue is security. But like so much else, the definition of security is changing. Threats today come not only from war, but also from economic and social inequities, human rights abuses, marginalization, and poverty. |

Let's dare to dream of a Beloved Community where starvation, famine, hunger, and malnutrition will not be tolerated because the civilized community of nations won't allow it. We should dare to dream of a world being reborn in freedom, justice, and peace, a world that nurtures all of its precious children and protects them with compassion and caring. |

Each culture sees human life as a progression through a series of stages... in an attempt to understand the evolution of human beings. Those people on the outer circle are just holding onto life; for them it is a matter of survival. |

by bobby jennings Illinois recently temporarily suspended execution of death row inmates when it was found that there was a high instance of inmates on death row that were later exonerated of all charges. Some months ago Time magazine reported that as many as 30 to 40% of death row inmates in the most populous states may be innocent. In 10 states, lawmakers have proposed legislation to place a moratorium or abolish executions until they can get the justice system under control. |

I've written about the fear of the future and said, "If we dwell in concern over the tomorrows of life, we lose today . . ." Yet hardly a week goes by that I don't receive a letter expressing concern about what's on the horizon. But if we're going to live joyfully in the Fourth Dimension, we'd better relax, and see only a positive future. |

We cannot use our spiritual life as a shield from social life and responsibility. We cannot be afraid to put our spiritual hands into the earth of politics. Mahatma Gandhi said, 'I do not believe that the spiritual law works on a field of its own. On the contrary, it expresses itself only through the ordinary activities of life. It thus affects the economic, the social, and the political fields.' |

It is self-evident that peace among nations will never grow from the blood-soaked and stained earth of war. When will we realize that killing others never ends the cycle of killing, that vengeance and retribution never bring peace? When will we lose our appetite for killing, for war, for slaughter, for murder? When will we find another way towards peace and justice? It must be now, if we are to leave anything worth leaving to our children. We cannot listen to or be persuaded by those whose absolutism is unguarded by wisdom. |

by B.W. Holmes. Much of our knowledge is based upon circular arguments: "our theory correctly explains the phenomenon, and the phenomenon occurs because our theory is correct". As history has demonstrated, mankind will blindly cling to a belief until the evidence against it becomes overwhelming. |

Of all nature's masterpieces, the newborn, whether fish, bird, mammal, or human, is surely the most exquisite. For centuries, humankind considered the womb environment sacred, free of violence and trespass... until humankind unwittingly produced synthetic chemicals that invade the security of the womb and create dissonance rather than harmony. |

by Richard Heinberg. The suggestion that we do away with mythology is based on a fundamental misunderstanding of myth and of the human psyche. Myth in some form is inevitable and necessary. What is our goal, our meaning, our purpose as human beings? These are the questions a myth can answer. |

by Bartholomew Find five minutes a day to focus on peace and visualize this planet absolutely radiant, bathed totally in Light, Power, Love, and Harmony. When you do this, you are moving away from limited beliefs into expanded possibilities. Yet it can be very difficult if you have one foot rooted in the past, "my country right or wrong", and the other poised to step into a future world with the hope of one planet, one people. |

We can deal with blatant discrimination through legal channels and receive some corrective action, but these kinds of compensation cannot heal hearts. Our goal is deeper healing. We want nothing less than total release from the pain and fear that racist conditioning breeds. |

Written in the 1930s. 'Life' is more than mere physical existence: it includes the human spirit. And 'Thou Shalt Not Kill!' is directed toward protecting both the body and spirit in ourselves and in others. On the battlefield with terrorists, in wars perpetrated over religious differences, and even in school hallways where children shoot their classmates, human beings are taking the lives of others. What person doesn't hear a little voice within asking, 'How can this be happening?' At some point we begin to realize that violence begets violence, and that the human race is in a vicious cycle of aggression, often unable to find a way out. Yet we must, if we are to achieve what every true human being yearns for: peace. |
