Children of War by Bill Douglas I can't bear this. I've seen the fruits of war. My Daddy came home from years of the war in 1945, and in 1957 when I was born he was still raging, and raged for many years after that. He was a very hard man who struggled like a warrior to try to contain the rage that roiled within him for the rest of his life, and to find and give love. His battle raged.. My father raged, delivering small doses of the rage he had been dealt by his government, by the world, by humanity as it raged on its most precious resource, its young men. He raged on my Momma, and he raged on us. He damaged me and my brother and sisters in many ways that I have long since forgiven him for, because I know how he struggled to heal from it, just as I am struggling to heal from it to this very day. They call it "post traumatic stress", as if it was only something the warriors struggle to heal from, but it's actually something that humanity struggles to heal from. InnerSelf Market Natural products sold and shipped by Innerself The rage that children of war, which is all of us, are feeling, and that has been re-ignited by this horrible event is not healed -- I struggle with it every day of my life, and now my children have been damaged by it as well, and now they struggle to understand the ghosts that unleash the rage I gave them. God, let's not re-open these wounds again. There are many in the Middle East who are the children of war, and some so damaged that they got into an airplane and cruelly killed so many innocent children of God from so many nations on this precious blue home we call planet Earth. I guarantee one thing that I know in my bones -- more war will never heal these wounds. It will require a great leap for humanity to transcend this, and to move to our most precious destiny that lies beyond the pain of war. God has chosen the United States for something grand. If the United States can transcend this tragedy, if we can rise to another plane, we can do a wondrous and miraculous thing. There are legions of angels waiting for us to do this. I feel them calling to me, that is why you have received this email and perhaps others from me. They are driving me to do this. Believe me I want to forget, to hate, to rage, and to join in the national delusion that we can find victory in war, but these angels are welling up their gentle message within me -- I cannot silence it, it drums on my soul with a force I cannot deny. I realize many will see me as weak, and deluded, and perhaps try to destroy me or my career as I depend on the public for my living, but I cannot remain silent, I must speak. My father's soul cries to me from beyond the grave. It is time to lift ourselves beyond the solution of revenge. We have no choice really if we can see the image that exists just beneath the surface of what we see. There is no other way than to transcend. If we do not use this opportunity to transcend to a higher plane, thereby providing an example to the world, the world may never survive. I believe, and believe the angels are telling me, that America has been spared the suffering of the rest of the world, so that we can be enabled to transcend. We are not so tied up in the suffering of the world, not because we are "better" or "more holy" than the world, but because we are being given an opportunity to lift the world to another level. Our gift of being spared the agony of every modern war, has given us the responsibility of bringing the planet, the precious planet earth, to the next level. We can say to the world, "we will NOT respond in kind." We can say to the world, "there is another way, and it begins right here, right now -- with us." How many times have we wished the Israelis, or the Palestinians, would do such a thing? Some will say I am not patriotic. I say that my father's ghost calls to me, imploring me, demanding that I say these words to the world. This is the only patriotism I know. I must translate the pounding in my soul into these words, I have no alternative. And I believe that you feel it pounding in your soul as well. Let's let this holy answer pour through us like a river of sorrow, of pain, of transformation, and hope, as we open the door for humanity to move in a different path. Let's redefine who we are as a nation. Let's convene the United Nations and call for a worldwide ban on weapons production and exportation. The United States is the world's largest weapons manufacturer and exporter. We can change the world. The power of us using this personal tragedy to step forward with such a statement can change the course of humanity. I beg you to beg everyone you know to urge our government, our media, and every citizen to carry this message into the human plane.
